Tips and tricks for getting the perfect photo
Studies have shown that on average, we humans have an attention span of 8 seconds - less than that of a goldfish.
This means your holiday property listing only has a very short amount of time to wow potential customers. High quality photos are a great way to capture the attention of customers. They are the modern-day equivalent of a shop window, allowing customers to browse before they buy.
It is important, therefore, to furnish your holiday let in the best possible way for these photographs. In this article we have compiled a list of tips and tricks to help you get your holiday let photo shoot ready.
Remove any clutter and overly personal items.
Make sure that there aren't any clothes or washing drying on radiators or clothing lines.
Plenty of natural light always helps properties to look their best, so make sure to open all curtains and blinds.
Replace any light bulbs that may have gone out, even in smaller lamps - the more light in your property, the better.
Fresh flowers and house plants are also a good way to brighten up homes.
Tuck any wires or cables out of sight.
Move bins out of sight.
Clean worktops and tidy away tea towels.
Wash, dry and put away all dishes.
Any pet beds or food bowls should be hidden.
Close all cupboards.
Set the scene - lay the table, add little touches like a fruit bowl, a homemade cake or a loaf of freshly baked bread.
Tidy up, straighten and plump cushions, make sure throws are folded neatly.
Move any children's toys, DVDs or magazines out of sight.
Make sure any TVs are switched off.
Before you make the bed, make sure that the pillow cases, duvet cover and sheet have all been ironed.
Make sure the bed is made neatly with tasteful bedding that matches the decor of the room.
Any under bed storage should be well hidden.
Drawers and wardrobe doors should be closed.
Make sure everything is clean and that there are no streaks on shower doors.
Ensure the toilet lid is down.
Personal toiletries should be removed. If you want to leave complimentary shampoos/shower gels, make sure they are aesthetically pleasing.
Towels should complement the decor and need to be folded tidily.
Remove any personal items of clothing or shoes.
Make sure that any cleaning products or washing powders are tidied away in a cupboard.
Empty washers and dryers, making sure that the doors have been closed.
Move vehicles away from the front of the property.
Tidy away any gardening equipment and clutter, such as hoses, empty plant pots and bins.
Make sure the lawn has been mowed and excess grass disposed of.
Tidy up flower beds as well as any window and hanging baskets.
Clean windows if required.
