Practical information about the Glasgow City Council's Short Term Let Licence process. To be read in conjunction with the information relevant to the process for the whole of Scotland.
The Council's policy and guidance document is here.You will be asked to complete an online application form.An application will not be accepted and processed without the following documentation (where applicable) (see section 12.3 of the guidance document for detail):
Where the premises is a flat, evidence of planning permission or a certificate of lawfulness
Floor/Layout Plan of the premises, scale 1:50 showing at least:
Rooms – living area/ bedrooms/ bedrooms available for guests;
Room sizes; including bedrooms;
Fire escapes;
Location of heat/ smoke alarms;
Location of fire doors; and
Location of stairs/ elevators/ lifts
Evidence of operation as a short-term let before 1 October 2022 e.g., booking confirmation email from Sykes – you will be required to certify this when submitting the online application. Checks to establish this may be made by the Licensing Authority.
Consent from Owner(s) - where the owner is not the applicant or the premises is owned by more than one owner, all owners will have to declare that they consent to the application, if one owner is submitting the application.
For details of the fees see page 19 of the Council's guidance note. The relevant fee for most of our owners is that being charged for secondary letting (ie. when you let out accommodation that isn’t your only or principal home) and so it is that fee to which we’ve referred in the table below:
4 or under: £250
5 or more: £400
The numbers refer to maximum capacity.
There are additional conditions to comply with including:
Providing guests with info booklet on how to dispose of refuse properly and appropriately;
and
Submitting certificate of compliance to Glasgow City Council within 14 days of the licence taking effect confirming they have provided emergency contact details to all neighbours.
