Practical information about the Dumfries and Galloway Council's Short Term Let Licence process. To be read in conjunction with the information relevant to the process for the whole of Scotland.
The Council's policy and guidance is here.
You will be asked to create an account and complete the online application process here.
You will be asked to submit the following documents as part of the application process:
Detailed floor plans of the premises (these don’t need to be to scale);
Fire risk assessment;
Electrical Installation Condition report;
Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) report:
If the property has gas, a gas Safety report;
If the property has a private water supply (as opposed to mains), a current bacterial test certificate and risk assessment for private water supplies;
Valid buildings and public liability insurance documents
The licence fees are here. The relevant fee for most of our owners is that being charged for secondary letting (ie. when you let out accommodation that isn’t your only or principal home) and so it is that fee to which we’ve referred in the table below:
1-3 occupants: £302.81
4-6 occupants: £336.75
7+ occupants: £385.85
The numbers refer to maximum guest capacity.
The Council has not adopted any additional conditions at this time.
